HVT programme update: transport, tuition, nutrition and beyond Assunta
Transport
Solving the transportation issue is critical to ensure higher attendance of the tuition class. Since August 2025, free transport was arranged for Year 4, 5 and 6 girls who attended tuition after school in the afternoon.
This is an initiative in collaboration with a group of ex-Assuntarians who work and live in Singapore. It is headed by Claire who will make direct payment to the school bus’ operator at the end of each month.
Number of beneficiaries in 2025 were 8 girls and in 2026 are 6 girls.
Tuition
The regular weekly tuition is carried out every Thursday. With the merger of Assunta School 1 and Assunta School 2 in 2025, the tuition programme has turned into a full day affair. Tuition class for the younger ones of Year 1, 2 and 3 are now conducted in the morning (10:15am to 11:45am) while the older girls of Year 4, 5 and 6 attend tuition class in the afternoon (1:15pm to 2:45pm).
Since 2024, a new batch of tutors were recruited. It started with 4 tutors and the number has gradually increased to 6 in 2024 and to 8 in 2026. With more helping hands, weaker students are getting more targeted assistance in 2026.
Nutritional and health programme
Eggy programme – In May 2026, 17 girls in Year 1, 2 and 3 began to receive an egg in their regular recess menu on Mondays, Wednesday and Friday. This is to boost their protein intake as a way to enhance their growth in their early years. The initiative is supported by Dr Sangeet, a nutritionist, who offers to provide financial support to HVT.
Health supplements are also provided by Dr Sangeet to two girls in the secondary school. One is suffering from psoriasis and the other from severe anemia.
Beyond Assunta
Since 2024, HVT began to support school leavers who are pursuing further education. For the last 3 years, HVT has supported 9 girls in their various endeavours – Sixth Form, Diploma in Nursing, Early Childhood Education, Diploma in Hospitality and Computer Science.
Thank You...
“I like to attend HVT tuition because it makes my family happy. I am lucky to be given a school bag, food, shoes, books and pencils. I say “Thank you” to Mr Martin. I want to pray to my God, so that God can make him happy.”
